Melbourne Skydeck
Melbourne Skydeck, Melbourne
“High above the city, everything felt calm, golden, and surreal—like I was floating between the skyline and the sky.”
First Impressions
As soon as the elevator doors opened at Level 88, my jaw dropped. The Melbourne Skydeck (formerly Eureka Skydeck) gives you a 360° panorama of the entire city—from the winding Yarra River to the twinkling rooftops and even out to the Dandenong Ranges.
It’s sleek, spacious, and surprisingly peaceful for such a tall thrill. I could’ve stayed for hours just watching the light shift over the skyline.
Getting There
I walked from Flinders Street Station—a pleasant 10-minute stroll along the Yarra River. The Skydeck is located in Southbank, and you really can’t miss the Eureka Tower—it’s one of the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere.
Tip: Go before sunset and stay into twilight. Watching Melbourne go from golden hour to glittering night is magic.
My Experience
I wandered from window to window, taking in views of Federation Square, Albert Park Lake, and even tiny planes gliding in the distance. Then I tried The Edge—a glass cube that extends out from the building, with a transparent floor. Terrifying at first, but so thrilling!
There’s also the VR Plank Walk experience—not for the faint-hearted, but such a fun, immersive surprise. And if you’re like me and love a chic moment, they now offer Skydeck cocktails—yes, you can sip while watching the city glow.
