The Wheel of Brisbane
The Wheel of Brisbane
"For a few quiet minutes, I floated above the city—and everything just slowed down in the most beautiful way."
First Impressions
You’ll spot The Wheel of Brisbane from across the river, its white frame glowing softly against the skyline. Located in the heart of South Bank Parklands, it’s more than just a Ferris wheel—it’s a moment to pause, breathe, and see Brisbane from a fresh, elevated perspective.
Whether you’re with someone or enjoying a solo evening, it’s romantic, peaceful, and surprisingly serene.
Getting There
I walked over from Brisbane CBD—just across Victoria Bridge, with the wheel standing tall beside the river. It’s also easy to reach by bus, ferry, or train (hop off at South Bank station).
Tip: Go at sunset or after dark for city lights and a bit of magic in the sky.
My Experience
The enclosed gondola felt safe and cozy (air-conditioned too!). As we slowly rose above the treetops and rooftops, I watched the Brisbane River curve, bridges sparkle, and the city hum quietly beneath me.
Each rotation felt like a breath—a slow, scenic loop where the only thing I had to do was look out and take it all in. From Mount Coot-tha in the distance to the lit-up skyline behind me, it was just… peaceful. I even caught the reflection of the wheel lights shimmering on the water below.
I didn’t rush. I just sat there, smiling like a kid, soaking up every second.
