Cottesloe Beach

Home Australia Perth Cottesloe Beach

Cottesloe Beach, Perth

“The water was crystal-clear, the sand soft underfoot, and the vibe? Effortlessly coastal and completely calming.”

First Impressions

As soon as I arrived at Cottesloe Beach, I knew I’d found the postcard-perfect stretch of coast. Think turquoise waves, gentle sea breeze, and locals sunbathing like it’s a daily ritual (because it is). The whole place radiates relaxed, beachy charm with a touch of timeless elegance—especially with that iconic Indiana Teahouse backdrop.

It’s not wild or crowded—it’s classy, clean, and genuinely soothing.

Getting There

I took the Fremantle Line train from Perth Station and got off at Cottesloe Station—from there, it was an easy 10–15 minute walk downhill. You can also drive or take a rideshare in about 20 minutes from the city.

Tip: Go on a weekday morning for a quieter, dreamy beach experience—or late afternoon to catch one of WA’s famous sunsets.

My Experience

I laid out a towel, slipped into the water, and just floated for a while—it’s that clear and calm. Later, I strolled along the sand, watching paddleboarders glide by and kids building sandcastles with ice creams in hand.

There’s a promenade lined with pine trees, perfect for shaded walks and people-watching. I lingered near the Art Deco-style pavilions, took far too many photos, and watched the sun melt into the Indian Ocean like a watercolor painting.

I didn’t want to leave.

Good to Know

Snack Break

I grabbed fish and chips from Amberjacks (classic, crispy, satisfying) and sat on the grass watching the waves roll in. For something fancier, The Beach Club at Cottesloe Hotel offers sunset cocktails and ocean views you won’t forget.
