Queen Victoria Market
Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne
“Colorful, chaotic, and deliciously alive—this market fed my senses and my soul.”
First Impressions
The moment I walked through the bustling aisles of Queen Vic Market, I was hooked. There were rows of fresh fruit stacked like rainbow pyramids, the warm scent of fresh bread and coffee drifting through the air, and vendors calling out deals with cheerful energy.
It felt local and lively, but also inviting—like everyone wanted you to be part of their Melbourne.
Getting There
I took the tram to Queen Victoria Market stop (Route 19, 57, or 59)—super easy and drops you right at the entrance. You can also walk from Melbourne Central Station in about 10 minutes.
Tip: Go in the morning for the freshest produce and fewer crowds—plus, the pastry stands are usually still warm!
My Experience
I started with the Deli Hall, where I sampled olives, tried truffle cheese, and got totally distracted by the smell of warm jam-filled doughnuts (yes, I ate one—no regrets). Then I wandered into the fresh produce section, tasting juicy strawberries and chatting with a vendor who gave me tips on local honey.
Next came the General Merchandise Sheds—vintage clothes, handmade jewelry, cute tote bags, boho hats… I could’ve spent hours. I even found a quirky Melbourne tea towel that I now adore.
I ended with lunch at the Food Court—a bánh mì, an iced matcha, and people-watching for dessert.
