WA Museum Boola Bardip, Perth

“I came for the architecture and stayed for the stories—bold, moving, and uniquely Western Australian.”

First Impressions

WA Museum Boola Bardip isn’t your average museum—it’s a powerful, beautifully curated journey through the land, people, and history of Western Australia. “Boola Bardip” means “many stories” in Noongar, and that’s exactly what this space offers.

The building itself is stunning—old meets new in a striking mix of heritage facades and futuristic glass structures. Walking in, I felt like I was entering something important, proud, and deeply grounded in place.

Getting There

I walked from Perth Train Station—it’s just a 5-minute stroll through the Cultural Centre. If you’re exploring Northbridge or central Perth, it’s an easy and scenic walk.

Tip: Give yourself at least 2 hours—you’ll want to take your time and soak it all in.

My Experience

From the moment I stepped in, I was pulled into story after story. I explored exhibits on WA’s Indigenous heritage, natural history, mining and migration, and even saw a blue whale skeleton hanging in the main hall—it was breathtaking.

There were immersive digital displays, audio recordings, and powerful First Nations voices woven throughout the space. It didn’t just inform—it moved me.

One highlight? The Connections Gallery, where Western Australians share personal stories—some joyful, some heartbreaking, all deeply human.
