Times Square
Times Square
“Loud, bright, chaotic—and totally unforgettable.”
First Impressions
Times Square isn’t just a place—it’s a feeling. The moment I stepped into the glow of the billboards, surrounded by energy, music, and movement, I couldn’t help but smile. It’s chaotic, yes, but also iconic. You really know you’re in New York.
My Experience
I arrived just before sunset, and the lights were already flickering to life. I sat on the red steps above the TKTS booth, just watching the world rush by. It’s a people-watcher’s dream—street performers, couples posing for selfies, tourists from every corner of the world.
I wandered into a few of the huge flagship stores (the M&M’s World is such a guilty pleasure), snapped a few “main character” photos, and even caught a pop-up performance. It’s overstimulating in the best way.
Good to Know
Open: 24/7 (yes, it really never sleeps)
Entry: Completely free
How long to stay: 30 minutes to 2 hours—depending on your vibe
Best time: After sunset when the lights take over, but also fun early morning when it’s quieter
Getting There
Take the subway to Times Sq–42nd Street Station—it’s one of the main hubs in Manhattan, so super easy to reach. Everything is walkable from there, including Broadway theaters and nearby restaurants.
Quick Bites & Sips
Truth: most food in Times Square is overpriced and touristy. But just a few blocks away you’ll find great spots. I grabbed a quick slice of NYC pizza nearby and then walked to Bryant Park for a little breather.
Personal Tips
Keep your bag close—it’s crowded and a hotspot for pickpockets
Don’t rush—lean into the chaos and enjoy the people and lights
Skip the chain restaurants and walk a few blocks for better food
Perfect spot for selfies, solo shots, or capturing the city’s buzz
Why I Loved It
⭐ 4.6/5 — “It’s loud, messy, and totally alive. Even if you don’t love crowds, there’s something electric about being in the middle of it all. I wouldn’t skip it for the world.”
